Welcome to Events Management at Sheffield Hallam University. In the exciting and fast paced industry of events this degree will equip you with the skills to create memorable events.  We’re one of the oldest Events Management courses in the UK, with many years of experience and industry contacts.  Alongside world class research, our team have years of experience in both teaching and delivering events in industry, many of the team continue to deliver events and even run their own event companies. The National Student Survey (NSS) results 2020 for the Events Management course were 94% for overall satisfaction and 100% of students said staff are good at explaining things.

 

What courses do you offer?

We have four course routes, all students start on Events Management in your first and at the end of your first year you can then choose to remain on the events management course or specialise in one of the following 4 areas:

  • Events Management (Arts & Entertainment)
  • Events Management (Experiential Marketing)
  • Events Management (Tourism)
  • Events and Leisure Management 

You final degree will reflect the specialism in your degree title boosting your career prospect in that area.  All our courses also come with a foundation year option.

What is the difference between the courses?

Events Management is our most broad course, you will have the opportunity to choose electives to suit your interests. If you’re unsure of what events you would like to go into this offers you the opportunity to explore various sectors. 

You can chose from elective modules including: Managing Festival & Outdoor Events, Managing Exhibitions and Corporate Events, Managing Weddings and Personal Events, Events as Marketing and Strategy and Learning Through Mega and Major Events. 

BSc (Hons) Events Management (Experiential Marketing)

From this course you’ll gain a sound understanding of event management but you’ll specialise in experiential marketing which is essentially bringing together people and brands. We see thousands of pieces of marketing everyday, this course looks at how we create innovative and immersive marketing experiences which leave lasting impact. This course works closely with leading experiential marketing agency TRO to offer you real world experience of how an experiential agency works. 

Specialist modules include: The Live Experiential Event, The International Events Marketing Sector, Events as Marketing and Strategy and Managing the Experiential Campaign.

 

 

BSc (Hons) Events Management (Art & Entertainment)

From this course you’ll gain a sound understanding of event management but you will specialise in arts & entertainment.  In this course you’ll explore arts and culture including; music, festivals, theatre, art exhibitions and installations. You’ll explore the funding streams for the arts and the part arts and culture play in society.

Specialist modules include: The Live Art and Entertainment Event, Managing Festivals and Outdoor Events, The Arts and Cultural Events Experience, and Arts and Entertainment in Society. 

 

 

BSc (Hons) Events Management (Tourism)

From this course you’ll gain a sound understanding of event management but you will specialise in tourism.  In this course you will look at how events and tourism fit together including utilising historical venues as tourism attractions and how to market a destination to the public.  

Specialist modules include: The Live Tourism Event, Heritage and Cultural Tourism, Introduction to Adventure Tourism, Foreign Language.

 

 

BSc (Hons) Event & Leisure Management

From this course you’ll gain a sound understanding of event management but you will specialise in the leisure sector.  In this course you will look the leisure industry such as sports venues and leisure attractions.  Explore how mega events like the Olympics impact on whole economies and how major events like the Silverstone F1 have become synonymous with their location.

Specialist modules include:  Leisure and Sport Events, Learning Through Mega and Major Events, Leisure and sport venue management, Leisure and Events Business Simulation. 

Please note that depending on the IELT (English Qualification level your hold) your modules may change on this course.

All of our events management courses/routes are available as a one year top-up qualification.

Between the second and final year our students have the opportunity to undertake a year in industry.  They are support by their academic advisor and the employability team to find something which suits their interests.
