At Sheffield Hallam University we recognise that the reality of working in the demanding and vibrant events industry means that attendance on courses and undertaking qualifications can be difficult. We have, therefore, been working with the industry for the past year to develop an extremely flexible, bespoke programme which will provide you with an event specific Post Graduate level qualification.

As a result of undertaking this course you will:

How long is the course?

The course is part-time and blends academic and practical experience, lasting over a period of 24 weeks. You can choose when you learn depending on your event work schedule. The only time specific requirement is to attend Sheffield Hallam University on three separate days over the six month period for master classes, facilitated jointly by experienced industry people and event management lecturers from the Universities 30 strong event lecturing team.
Beyond the master class days, the remainder of course materials are e-enabled and can be accessed flexibly to fit in with your work requirements.

Who should attend?

The course has been purposefully designed to meet the needs of a variety of participants who are working in a management related role in the event industry. It is essential that participants have a minimum of three to five years’ experience managing events , event teams and working in the events sector.
Many participants will have a degree, possibly in a related area, However, participants could still be eligible without a first degree. The event industry is made up of diverse professionals and we are keen, where possible, and in line with University regulations, to consider varied backgrounds to access this PG level course.

Becoming a more self-aware and reflective practitioner
Topic 2
Leadership of events, event staff and stakeholders
Topic 3
Identifying and seizing opportunities in the contemporary business environment
The course has been designed to provide materials, discussion and activities which can be directly applied and integrated with your current work context. Throughout the duration of the 24 week course, tutors will provide face-to-face, telephone based, and electronic support. The assessment is flexibly designed to enable participants to produce work that also has specific value in their event management role.
