Don’t start by booking venues, deciding on your programme etc. The success of the event that you create will depend upon the reaction of the audience, the satisfaction of funders, sponsors and so forth. Also your event exists in an increasingly competitive event marketplace – where there are more competitors than ever before. So the starting point is to reflect upon those things and answer questions like;

  • What is the makeup of the audience and what does that mean for the event we create?
  • What does success look like for my boss / the client?
  • What do partners / sponsors need to achieve through the event to justify their involvement and promote future involvement.
