Cancer Research UK’s Events team delivers a variety of events including Race for Life 5K, 10K, Pretty Muddy, Shine, and over 50 third party events supporting our participants.

It is the UK’s largest fundraising event series with over 650,000 people taking part in more than 400 events nationwide, all doing something amazing whilst raising millions for Cancer Research UK. After a year where vital cancer trials have been delayed, fundraising is more important than ever. Take a step forward and kick-start your career working as an Events Assistant at the world’s leading charity dedicated to beating all types of cancer. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain world-class hands-on experience working on some of the country’s leading events.

Event Assistants

Event Assistants play an integral role in the successful delivery of each of these events.

Successful applicants will gain experience in course, start, finish, stage and volunteer management, as well as opportunities to work at some of our 3rd party partner events delivering post-race support and stewardship or leading a group of volunteers at a cheerpoint. You will become part of a dedicated events team who are experts in their field. They have great fun and develop and deliver inspiring events which bring together communities, survivors, and those who have been touched by cancer. You will also be provided with a Cancer Research UK induction, specific event delivery training and have the opportunity to forge great contacts and network within the UK’s largest charity.

Pay and dates

£8.91 per hour

The event season runs from Aug – November and you will be required to work at an allocated number of events throughout this period. Most of this work will be at weekends.

Casual contract from 1st August until approximately 30th November 2021

Interviews will be held online w/c 21st June 2021 

You must be able to attend mandatory online training during the month of July.
